I have a slx I use for surf fishing here, love the DC. I use 10lb mono with a 9' steelhead rod for drop shot with small flukes. I've had it for less than a year so I can't tell you how it will hold up over time but I really like it. Pretty much impossible to birdnest.  No really big fish yet but more than adequate for perch and corbina

They are not 40lb reels. If you try to fish them as a 40lb reel you will break them. They fish well with PE0.5-1.5, not PE3.

Just look at all DC reels from Shimano ,all are relative light reel biggest I found is Curado DC 200 only hold 125 yards 40 lbs braid .I will stay with old set up with Daiwa Lexa 300
