Title: Penn Long Beach Rods
Post by: Chad J on July 08, 2025, 11:05:34 PM
While searching for a nostalgic Penn Long Beach rod like the one I bought with my first paycheck back in the '90s, I noticed something and was hoping a Penn expert might be able to shed some light. There seems to be at least three variations all with the same model #3356C. One is labeled Medium-Light 12-15lb, another Medium 12-15lb (same as the Medium-Light) and the third Medium 12-30lb. Is there actually any difference in these rods or did Penn just reassess the action that they previously assigned?

Had a Longbeach 3360c rod, solid fiberglass, rated medium power and 15-30lb line. Not an expert, but the 12-30lb rating sounds most accurate for the 3356c which is 6" shorter. My 3360c was pretty stout. The 3366c, 6" longer than mine, pretty sure was rated medium heavy and 20-40lb line.
