Title: molybdenum grease for fishing reels?
Post by: danw9009 on August 13, 2025, 04:08:35 AM
HI all,

would moly grease work for drive gears?

this looks interesting.

Thoughts?

I think that's for cranes and bulldozers, not fishing reels. High viscosity, would probably feel fairly, erm, gluggy - over twice as thick as a NLGI #2 grease.

You have used the magic words to summon our resident grease-man jurelometer, who will explain this more eloquently than me  :d

Naw,  I am handing the job over to you.    :d

In addition to your points, I have read that moly grease is not compatible with some types of plastics, including polycarbonate.

Moli lube is nasty stuff to work with too.  The secret sauce is how tacky it is so it stays put.  It's like trying to wipe silicone sealant off your hands and tools.
