Title: Fish catch/limit beads
Post by: pjstevko on September 15, 2025, 12:17:57 AM
While researching fly fishing equipment I came across a guy selling catch beads. I figured I'd make my own. It's a clever way to keep track of your catch rate or track your limits if keeping fish. You basically slide a bead down the paracord at the low end for each fish caught/kept and when you reach ten you slide down an upper bead and rest the lower beads. I tried out my version today while trout fish and it worked as designed. These will also come in handy when rockfishing so you don't have to do out your bag to verify your limit.  I'm gonna make up a bunch and give them out at our next Morro Bay group trip.

(This type of tracking was originally designed by Army Rangers as distance trackers for land navigation. It's been adopted to track all sorts of things)

If you stop catching so many fish you will not have this problem.  ;)
