All Fin-Nor parts have been sold to Mike's Reel Repair in BC Canada in case anyone is looking for something. Pure Fishing no longer stocks any Fin-Nor parts or does any Fin-Nor reel repair.

I ordered 4 springs for a Santiago reel a couple weeks ago from Mike's reel repair. Total cost including shipping to Texas was 41 bucks. Tariff charges were 65 bucks on top of that. Parts are listed in tariff schedule as steel and aluminum and that is a 50% tariff.
Brutal
Unfortunatly this will hurt Mike's. Shipping from Canada was bad enough, now this.

luckily, we have some canadian members that might be able to help us out.
I mailed used penn parts to retired and fishing. This were old penn 320 and 330 parts. Tarrif and tarrif collection fee charged by US was 6 dollars. To ship to USA the gov there makes you use an app to take a picture and describe the item.... and then they calculate the tarrif and fees that must be paid before you mail. Many companies will not ship to the USA because of the fees and the extra work to use the app that is mandatory.
This has nothing to do with mikes or a policy required by Canada. This is a US government requirement.
Not political crap but the new "reality"
Cheers

That's part of the reason I like it here. I left another site (that sounds like a whale) because of political junk. Thank you!
The other part I like it here is the great knowledgeable community! As for Mike's, pricey to start. The shipping and teriff situation will make it unreasonable.
At least the US dollar is 35 percent higher. So you do well on exchange.

And family.
I'm not trying to get political. It just sucks to pay $100 for 4 springs.

Everyone had to use the app. Family or business.

Not if they Osoyoos and cross the border. However, I do not see the need to order parts as I have reduced the # of people I service reels for, especialy Shamano reels.

You should have sold them to Mystic.. That's where people go for Pann Parts.
I assume they sold to the highest bidder.

Mystic has no interest in stocking 100,000+ Fin-Nor parts across 1500 parts Sku's, their niche is PENN.

Sorry to read this news, but there were 2 choices. Into the scrap barrel and 0 parts for the Fin-Nor brand and into the future or send them all to Mike's to allow Anglers to continue to get parts for some of their older Fin-Nor reels. Although expensive, at least you were able to get 4 Santiago's back on the water.

I foresee the price of "parts reels" going-up, cause that sounds cheaper in the long run.
What if we had a politics section on the forum? Ha! Kidding... that would slowly erode any existing unity, even though it might be amusing.
I would have just let the reels sit in the corner until trade conditions leveled out and stabilized. There are a lot of adjustments and tweaking still to be had in the foreseeable future. ;)

WOW 50% tariff, thats why I love my USA PO Box, its zero tariff for me to get parts from USA and not, I not hidding those parts under my car truck when traveling back to Mexico, all the Mexicans that live in the border with USA have a duty-free limit of $300 dlls when returning from shopping in USA to Mexico, that plus some specific indivual items that can cost more of $300 dlls but are considered personal items and are also full covered of the same duty-free benefit, as photo camera, cell phone, laptop, 4 fishing reels/rods, etc
