Title: Heddon 180 Convertible spincast reel problem
Post by: Popmedic1 on November 10, 2025, 08:00:56 AM
I have a new to me Heddon 180 spincast reel that I just serviced. I cannot get the anti-reverse spring that goes on the anti-reverse cog to go on the right position. I was hoping someone has this reel and could take a picture of how the spring is installed properly. The schematic shows the part listed, but not how to install. Thanks in advance for your help.

Congrats on your first post here, and greetings from Minnesota USA.

I've worked on more than a few spincast reels, but not this one, and it does not look like it resembles any other I am familiar with.  Hang on, though; there are lots of folks on this site familiar with all sorts of reels, and there is a chance someone will give you the info you need.

I notice a video online that goes thru a breakdown of a Heddon 185 Convertible; perhaps this is similar to the 180?  Mentions the AR and at least one other spring inside.  Search for 'Heddon 180 reel" and the vid is by 'Fish-N-Thingz".  I did not watch the whole vid, but he shows a pic of the AR spring at around the 10 min. mark of the vid.

Ill keep looking. Thanks again.
