Would anyone have an interest in basically giving reels to other members that you don't have a burning need for and don't want to deal with the aggravation of selling them on auction sites, or FB Marketplace? I figure those reels would at least land in a good home...thoughts?
We have always done this in a unorganised manner. This could be a good idea.
I like this idea as I'm about to thin the herd of my loaner reels
Ok can we see the reels I have a few I might trade?
I don't really want anything in return. I have a really clean Daiwa 406A, big spinning reel that I just KNOW I have no use for. If someone wants it, let me know via PM and I'll drop it in the mail.
The aggravating part of getting rid of reels is not the advertising, it's the shipping.
Steve,Alan learnt me about Paypal shipping, they use USPS,but the rate is cheaper & you get a tracking number. I sent Gregg a part for $5, it was less than a pound. It got to Hawaii quicker than going anywhere in the lower 48,I think he had it in 3 days!
CincyDavid,
I'm interested in the 406A. I'll be in SWFL next week. PM me if you want to meet somewhere.
OR
I'll set something up when I get home.

James, for me, the problem is getting it into the hands of USPS. I would have to either go to town or sit along the highway and hope to catch the very nice and very attractive mail lady when she comes by. That quickly starts to look suspicious.
Sometimes if it is a cheap item I just leave in my mailbox & put the flag up.
Anything to help me with my hoard is a great idea! ;D

I PM'd ya.
Good idea. Dominick
Is it free to a good home or is it offer up and see who wants to swap?
I suppose you could offer up for swap but my intent is to declutter while making sure these reels land with someone who will appreciate them. The last thing I need is more reels or getting into horse-trading with what different reels are worth.
Sometimes "value" is on a sliding scale. I traded a realy nice Jigmaster 501 for a 349H with a cracked sideplate and warped spool. However the 349 was a FACTORY LH REEL (the AR dog is stamped with 15-349 LH and not like the 15-349) and the only one I have ever seen. The previous owner offered to give it to me for the cost of shipping, wee both were happy with the deal. And I had all of the parts to restore the reel, including sideplates, frame posts, rings, reel stand, gears, levers, internals and a bronze spool, and all NOS. It looks unused now.
I live across from a city park located on Crystal River. I always put my unwanted yet usable outfits over there with a note, free to a good home. Seems to work.
Will this be a new forum or start posting here?
ah, i already started a new board in the "for sale" section.

Thanks Alan, let's see if this is a winning idea...I figured it was worth a shot.
