Thanks steeve, there is a cap that screws onto the front of the spool, under this cap, it has a set up that should clip onto the centre pin, there is 2 quare rods, also two springs, that when set up correctly, will work.
I have been trying to place pictures on this post, I just spent about an hour with Mike Currie trying to help me, he is on the other side of Australia, but he has posted many picture here from time to time, and we still not having any luck, to get the pictures posted, I will take the computer to my sister inlaw, tomorrow, as she set the computer up for us, maybe she will work it out, cheers Don.

Now this third picture illestrates, the 2 S shaped springs, plus the 2 sqare rods, that have to be in the correct place, for the spool to clip onto the centre pin, if anyone can send me a picture of that, or maybe a schuematic of the reel, that would be really good thank, cheers Don.
I found another back plate, n once I cleaned it up, its actually made in Australia, by Stuart & Allwood, they were made from a compound named, Casien, its a milk compound, that does`nt, shrink or swell like backlite.
You can make casein plastic in your kitchen Don. Heat milk and then add vinegar to curdle it. Separate the curds, drain well, and knead them together to make a squishy ball. Then shape the ball into a side plate or whatever. It will dry into a hard plastic.

I am still trying to work out, how the 2 square rods & S shaped springs fit in, the square rods, or bars, seem to be a fraction to long, but they must fit, I may have a bit more time today, for resurching the steelite reels, I have sent a message to orca Australia, asking if they can refer me to some one that may have worked on these reels a lot. It look to me like you are very close , I think the longer leg of the spring goes up against the bars . And the round pin just keeps the spring from moving around in the housing . All mine have drags in front .

Yes Good thanks Joe, 4 of the first 5 reels in the link you sent Joe, is the reel, you can see the screw hole were it screws onto the spool, but I cant find any schematics of that model or any others, cheers Don.
