Title: 113h left hand winter project
Post by: steelfish on December 05, 2025, 10:15:56 PM
today I had a visit from a good USA fellow, he just came to say hello and gave me a bunch of old reels, these are for you if you want them, they are just getting dust and corrosion on my garage he said, so, I took them.

in the bag had the next reels, LongBeach, Squidder 140, shimano fx 2500, tiny spinning daiwa AG750, a cool Zebco 33 classic FeatherTouch and an old version of the 113h, which I though it was broken because I couldnt turn the handle forward plus it must have a problem with the AR Dog cuz for my surprise the handle can be turned only backwards  :-\  :-\ , under further inspection I found out its a LEFTY 113h,  ::)  ::)

as you can see in the pics that reel has lots of green corrosion, this could be a nice winter project, I have a kinda ugly and pitted tiburon Narrow frame for the 113h with spool, so, I prefer the ugly/pitted tiburon frame over the heavy steel spool, I wont be using the reel cuz Im right handed but it will be a cool addition to my penn reel small collection

well, I couldnt wait till winter time to get my hands into this reel  ^-^

I didnt have big plans for it, so, why wait one or two more months just to install a new half frame, an aluminum spool I have, change the 3-drag stack for a 5+1 drag stack and thats it

as expected the reel have lots of green corrosion on the exterior metal parts and also on the metal parts inside the reel, the washer under the main gear was trashed, not a problem I have few of those.

the 3-stack gear set was changed for a 5+1 drag set, I didnt have a pic of the new gear set but its just a factory 5+1 drag washer set

this is just a comparation between a 113h  Rigthy VS Lefty bridge for future reference

I didnt have a stock main gear on hand but this 113h Lefty main gear have the teeth oriented reversed

I also changed the stock cupped external washer and installed one with a big rubber washer that helps to keep the water out from the inner parts,  I get this one from my compadre G-fish

nothing more to explain, the fishing reel now have a graphite half body frame and aluminium spool instead of the steel spool, pitted posts and metal reel stand, ooh I was forgetting it, it also have another stock handle, this one is a little bit larger.

now it just need some 80# braid and long 60# mono leader to be set for fishing

Nice Alex

Not as rare as a LH 349H though. I thought it was a franken reel until I took it apart and saw the AR dog was stamped 15-349LH. I made  a few SS ones and built another LH 349H with a 7 CF washer drag stack, a aluminum spool and  37A-506 cross  bars. I am 90% sure it was one of your spools.
I think I have a LH 113H but it could be a 114H, I can not remember.
