Title: Outer Banks Tuna charter
Post by: Bobcat on December 16, 2025, 12:37:42 PM
Hey all,
I'm looking for an east coast tuna charter. Thinking about North Carolina, outer banks but I'm open to suggestions/recommendations.
Thanks in advance!

Getting a lil late for YFT at OBX but bigeye and BFT should be getting going. Check out Oregon Inlet Fleet.

Thanks for your help!
I'm actually looking at next year. I have contacted 3 different boats, the first one responded almost immediately and advised that he only took Bluefin charters and the fish he catches are typically too big to keep. He recommended another captain who I emailed immediately, I got a computer generated response promising they would respond shortly, that was last Thursday and I have gotten nothing since. The third attempt I called the number listed and no one answered. I sent a text message to the captain Friday and have heard nothing back. I'm starting to think that they don't want my $$$

What the heck size tuna are they catching that are too big to keep? So are they just catching them for sport and dumping them to die?

I fish out of Oregon Inlet often.  20-30 times per year.

YF tuna are caught in april/may and again in Sept/Oct/Nov.   Bluefin tunas, often too big to keep are caught Nov/Dec-February/march (27"-73"is typically the slot limit.  most fish are wayyy over 73".  We hooked a triple header of 700 pounders last season which are 100+" fish)

Any of the boats at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center can put you on fish.  They all work together to catch fish. Bi-Op-Sea, Pelican, Rigged Up are a few I'd recommend.
