I leave for a 2 week fire assignment back to my old Refugee in SW Florida tomorrow morning at 0 dark thirty. Not sure how much fishing I'll get in but you can believe I'll be fishing anytime I'm not working!
Standby for fish and fire pics.....
Good luck,

The cold fronts that pushed through So. Fl really dried out and killed a lot of vegetation so the State Forestry Division isn't issuing burn permits, so we be busy getting equipment ready for wildfire season instead.
The bass in the pond by the work center are barely starting to warm up so I've only caught a few and 1 big blue tilapia. We worked half a day on Sunday and were sent home early so everyone could watch the big game. A friend took me out on his poling skiff for a few hours and we saw plenty of redfish. I hooked 4 but pulled the hook when setting the hook. It was super frustrating! Hopefully I can get a chance to redeem myself before i head home.
Caught a couple more bass at the local ponds...
PJ - I love that you post your exploits, you are almost like a "travel version" of Benni. If there is water close by, PJ is on it! New techniques? PJ is not afraid to try! Thank you so much for these posts! Good luck on the rest of your time down in FL. - john
Fishin in Florida be like this sometimes....

I am waiting for the "PJ vs. the Prehistoric Reptile" episode..... - john

Snuck out for a late afternoon session....Managed to catch a couple of subway (12") snook
That's a nice looking boat
That's cool,,, ;D
Tomorrow is my final day in Florida and I fly home to California on Friday. I've managed to catch a few more bass over the last couple days and a nice sunfish. Not sure when I'll be fishing after I get home....
Cool. Maybe a pyro-type fire season in Florida this year. The LMB are looking much more hungry than the Snook.
The severe freeze that happened in South Florida really did a lot of damage to the vegetation. Based on my experience Florida's wildfire season will occur about 4-6 weeks earlier than normal and will more be more active than normal....
I'm headed home right now and will miss all the action.... Unless they call me after all the "fun" starts!
Yeah I'm kinda scared of fire season this year. The water levels are way lower than average at least around me, and I've never seen the forest so dead. This state is a tinderbox right now.
