I thought it was illegal to put ketchup on tube steaks.

I was pretty sure tube steak was an innuendo. Same as a trouser snake.

Just about everything Whataburger is great, but I'd use Siracha mayo instead.  For a picky family or small group, upgrading to a sausage dog is worth the coin.  Also a brioche bun..  Then throw a couple sprigs of arugula on top to placate the greenish crowd.

I do enjoy a Hebrew national on occasion, chili cheese and onion or just mustard, depending if it's lunch or dinner

It ought to be illegal to put ketchup on anything! Nasty stuff.

Hebrew National with deli mustard or chili & cheese. Ketchup never ever, it's just wrong!

Ketchup is only on my fries.

This grilled:

If we're splitting frog hairs, I score the sausage diagonally along the length so it doesn't split & when you add peppers/onions they get all up in there.

Hot dog dinner is my second favorite of all time (Rib-Eye, Sourdough, green salad is my favorite).

For me, the cheaper the dog, the better —- so it is Bar-S.

If folks really knew what Dogs were made of, many wouldn't ever eat them again (lips, cheeks, uteruses).

For me, it is brown mustard and dill pickle relish and diced onions. Dogs have to be BBQ'd towards black, not boiled.  Then sides are potato salad or Fritos, plus a bowl of good chili with onions and cheddar cheese.

We switched from Heinz ketchup a few years ago, to "Yo Mamas".  A night  and day better taste and difference.

Never ketchup on dogs though, ever!  Ketchup is to hide the taste of something.

Best, Fred

And you should never put ketchup on a Hog Dog...it's just wrong!

My wife always gets all beef dogs, but to me the (chicken lips)dogs taste better, have more fat & char easier, smell better cooking.

I was TDY in Vermont in 89' & their big thing was white vinegar & water 50/50 on fries. They have a squirt bottle on every table.

Brats or Red hots boiled in beer-pretty good gut rockets

I didn't invent, promote, or circulate the term. I just worry searches might drive the wrong kind of traffic to the site. And I was definitely younger than 12 the first time I heard that. I've never heard the term used to describe an actual food until this thread.

I honestly have never heard "T-Steak" referred to anything but hotdogs,I know most all the other words not to say in mixed company.

30 years ago, our health inspector at our bar&grille told me his previuos job was an inspector at an Oscar Meyer hot dog plant. He said after seeing how hot dogs were made, he would never ever eat another hot dog
