I was on the bay looking for US built Eagle Claws and stumbled on an Italian-built ECO, smallest of the 8 of Eagle Claw's "Mediterranean" line, circa 1970. It should arrive in about a week, I'll be curious to compare it to my Alcedo Micron.

Reputation says they are nice reels, with all the shortcomings (few spare parts; a few out of the ordinary disassembly procedures, etc.) that some of those old Italian built reels had.

Frank, we're going to soon find out. :d
Those EC's are high quality reels rebadged and supplied as "trade reels" to Eagle Claw by Offmer, of Italy.
Solid and good quality reels.

It arrived today, clean as a pin. Almost no paint loss, old line, maybe 2 lb or 4 lb, that I removed. I'll dig into it this evening and start cleaning and relubricating. I'll dig out a Micron and a 2052 and compare them for size.
Almost identical in outside dimensions to a Shakespeare 2052, weight seems similar too, but I don't have a postal scare to give real numbers.
The spool of gold colored 4 lb Stren arrived today, now I just need an appropriate rod to hang it on.
