Instead of a pretend one.
This is actually a comment on posting. Didn't know which section to put it in(hence the title and first sentence), If I did know it all though, I could read so many posts with better understanding based, IMO, on the less than ideal clues provided. Sometimes not enough clues, sometimes vague or incomplete information.
Please, if you jump right into a subject I often don't know the "W'S" : Who, When, What, Why. Or the big H; How.
I've started to read some reel posts where I can't tell if it's a conventional or a spinner, right-hand retrieve or left-hand retrieve... Background surrounding information please!
For example, using a reel: model #'s and/or name, year of manufacture if known, name of manufacturer. Pictures if possible along with specific descriptions. Editing can clarify things, too!
Well said. - john
There is an unfortunate assumption thats quite prevalent in written communication these days, that the person on the other end
1. Knows immediately what you're talking about
2. Has been waiting for an opportunity to help you.
Sometimes it's true. Others, less so.
"Hey could you send them the files? They need it ASAP"
:) Easy fellows .. We are on the world wide net . Many people ,the english language is a second language . Some post are written using a translating program and things get lost in translation .
The biggest help is pictures . that usually cuts to the chase !!
Some things are written so as to make you think , or ask the questions ! :fish :d
I'll follow Joe's lead and stick to the positive. I LOVE it when a person
1. Lists what they've already tried
2. Comes back and lets us know if a suggestion worked or not.
I am so guilty of trying to speed type/write, and can't help assuming others understand completely what I am referring to.
Sometimes I read my old posts and realize someone may not comprehend what I was referring to. HUH?
You need to use Ai now.
Ai VERSION OF ABOVE QUOTED BELOW:-
"I tend to write quickly and assume others fully understand what I'm referring to.
When I reread some of my previous posts, I realize they may not be as clear as I intended. That needs to change.
Going forward, please use AI to ensure clarity and accuracy before posting."
Sometimes in everyday conversation with my wife I say half of what I am thinking.Assuming she can read my mind for the other
Half. Then later when the missing info becomes important,My comment is "I already told you that" ;D

I tend to assume everyone sees some things as obvious so I don't "spell it out" and then get quite annoyed when they don't .......... (deleted) ;)
