On the first pic I have just acquired a 440 that has badly neglected. Everything I touch is rusted into place. Which brings me to a couple of really bad places of concern. 1st picture is the main bearing of which I cannot tell if all the bearings are intact and not to mention all the sand and gunk in there. Also, the bearing and shaft are stuck in the housing. Any hints or opinions? Don't know how to get that bearing and shaft/gear out of the case because it is really siezed.2nd chance repair, on you tube cleans and repacks these without removing from the drive/rotor gear, but theses seem really bad. Moving to #2 concern. on the top/spool end of the axle shaft was seized up as well with rust. I got it loose and cleaned it up as best as I could, but now the wings that lock the spool into place don't seem to lock it very well. See picture 2.
part - 100 176 is bearing and 100 113 is axel and 100 098 is tiny copper washer on control arm (need 2). @foakes
You will need a bearing for sure, Gary —-
There is a tiny spring that connects between the two copper legs on the spool shaft. But I seldom replace those, since there was a reason the spring came loose —- I just replace the shaft with a new one.
I sent you a couple of 100098 copper washers I think on Monday. Do you need more?
To get the bearing out, just install a washer on the top of the worm drive, then the hex rotor nut, then insert an open end wrench under the washer —- and hit the wrench with a hammer. It will come out.
Then, using a block of wood with a hole drilled in it —- drop the worm gear into the hole —- then using a vinyl faced hammer —- knock the worm pinion gear out from the bearing.

That can be tilted in any direction.It has rubber jaw covers to protect the reel.I tighten very lightly.
