Title: Penn Senator 113 WIDE
Post by: jigmaster501 on March 03, 2026, 06:50:11 PM
Hey everyone,

I just won a Newell Long Beach 68 spool.

Didn't know they existed.

I am planning on making a wide Black 4/0 reel with likely old Newell bars and base.

What should this reel be named????

We have a Grouper Special already..

Ideas????

Enjoyed watching the development of original Grouper Special back in the day.

Tried to do a wide with that same 68 spool but couldn't find a 30-113W Newell base?

Someone with the right tooling could stretch the spool to match Broadbill specs.

A 113hlw seat will be the one to widen a black 113 4/0. Screw hole pattern is the same as 113h, and frame Posts from a 68, or from a 113hlw
