Title: Pinion Gear Wear
Post by: slosh on March 18, 2026, 02:47:43 PM
I have a few old Daiwas with pinion gear wear. These are bronze pinion gears that get wallowed out by casting over time. Is there any way to repair these? I read years ago about using silver solder to fill in the worn areas and then carefully fine-finishing, but not sure if it's worth the effort. The specific reels are SM-2As, the old Sealine 30SH (the high-speed Sealine 30H, aluminum sideplate reel), and an old PMF-250.
