We live in the California Sierra Nevada mountains at 4500'.

The Sierra Nevada range is about 450 miles from North to South, and about 90 miles from East to West.

Higher up is our backyard —- with over 4000 lakes.

I have been to maybe 125 of them over nearly 60 years.

This year, I hope to add a dozen new ones, and maybe visit some previous ones.

Fishing used to be my reason (excuse) for going to these remote lakes ranging from 5600' to 11,000'.  Over the last 15 years, I realized that I didn't need a reason to go to these lakes —- I just needed to do it.

Corny, but true.

Best, Fred

A couple of my favorites up in the Sierra.

And now we begin the sacred ritual of pretending to be patient while secretly hoping Wayne drops those legendary photos any second.   ;D

I have so many photo memories of the places I used to fish the past 50 years, all at Cape Point the bottom end of S Africa.
We moved away from there 5 month ago and have not yet settled in to a completely new way of fishing, but plan to start very soon.

The first two photos are from the same spot, different time and narrower focus.

3 rd photo is from a spot 3 miles away and the fishing ledge is shown, about 25 mt above the water.    Had some of my most exiting fishing there, but as fear of heights got a grip on me I stopped going there from around 2005 onward.
I will add another photo to put a better perspective of the high ledge!   I marked the high spot we fish from, if you look very carefully, I removed the obvious features of a mate who just rope gaffed a fish, you can see his rope going all the way to the top and the small Yellowtail just of his hands.

Some stunning photos above, the USA is a beautiful country!

Wow! You are all living in very beautiful places with some wonderful fishing opportunities.

I am in Western PA. These photos are of a small lake that I fish often. Unfortunately, these are by necessity "Non-fish pictures" because I didn't catch any fish, except for some bait on one of my 1000Cs. I was targeting catfish with the Surfmaster 150 and Ambassadeur 6500C3. The other side of the lake has many downed trees in the water along the whole shoreline. I saw carp jumping there, so I tried fishing there last week. Hooked 2 carp (the only ones I have hooked so far this year) but they both got into the trees. So, on this last trip I brought a surf rod with a Daiwa SL30SH and cast across the lake to that side, where I had hooked the 2 carp a few days ago. I figured that they would need to pull against the rod to get into the trees, but I didn't hook any this time.

When I serviced the slosh I noticed that it was missing the casting brakes. They weren't available anywhere, so I cut bits off a WD40 tube. They are working great. I almost can't backlash the slosh even if I try to. That's good, because I have braid on it. I should probably take a razor blade and make the WD40 tube brakes a bit smaller.
