I hit the Sebastian Inlet this morning and caught a snook. I've been fishing in Florida for 12 years now and it's my first time catching any fish on a flair hawk. I'm usually a swimbait and live bait guy.

Poor quality picture but there was a gale warning, 25-30 knot winds, and 10-15 ft seas, so I took the pic and threw her back ASAP.
What's a Flair Hawk?

caught it on a 5" NLBN (chartreuse)
Get em,,, ;D
Nice. I'm up in Indialantic this weekend. It's a bit blustery out. Probably will be all weekend unfortunately. But I'd rather have a headwind than a cross breeze.
Oh and It's sargassum city at the beach right now. Thats worse than the wind.

Yeah I went out again last night and spent more time pulling sargassum off of my hook than I did fishing.
Let me know if you're ever in the area and want to fish. I'm always looking for fishing buddies.

For sure. Next time I'm over here with a more predictable window, I'm down.
Yeah I was at the beach less than a half hour before I knew it was futile. A few hours inshore only produced a cat and a few skates. I saw a few beefy snook but they were too cool for me. I'm gonna try again and see if u can improve upon that.
Also for the record seaweed is a necessary sushi roll ingredient. Wrong type of seaweed but I digress.
I went fishing for the past two nights at Sebastian Inlet and blanked. I thew everything at them, flair hawks, swimbaits, shrimp jigs, flukes, stingray grubs, and nothing.
Going out to catch some bait later today. I need to get my confidence back up hah
Sebastian inlet is a cruel and unforgiving place.
Yup, lost two flair hawks and a NLBN swimbait. Going out tonight with some oversized mullet, the only ones I could get my hands on. If I catch something, you'll hear about it hah

No, this one was on a purchased flair hawk. Sticking with ol faithful until snook season closes lol.
34" red I caught last night.

I usually don't fish this hard, I'm just trying to get a slot before snook season closes.
nice end to the season! now to get my sleep schedule back on track.... maybe ;D

Nice! Grill or pan?
Pan. Blackened!
went out to the inlet last night to see how it'd be. absolute nightmare as expected, huge crowd of people trying to get their slot snook before the season ends. i caught a 27.75" snook (has to be 28" to keep lol) on a flair hawk but that was it.
i probably wont fish the jetty again until the season closes. i got my hail mary slot and dont want to deal with the crowds. kind of relieved actually, now i can focus on lure making and other things.
anyway, blackened some of the snook yesterday. came out fantastic!

Cool lookin fish. Never fished for them. Highly regulated probably for economic and environmental reasons. A member of the Perch order; Percaformes.
yes, very highly regulated. the most sought after inshore gamefish in florida. the season opens back up in september.
My in-laws lived in Satellite/Melbourne Beach near Patrick AFB years ago, the locals surf fished for Snook. I never have eaten any yet.

They were, if what I read a while ago was true. The first fish to be regulated in the US.
I like the plate too...
Great surf fishing in that area, really good for pompano from what I've seen and heard.
Snook is definitely worth pursuing if you're in the area during season. I'd say the meat is like a more firm grouper.
posted in my lure thread, too, but i caught this 34" snook on my 7" jerkbait. first big girl on one of my own lures.
