Hello,
I am to to this forum. I joined because I just dug out my 50 yr old Mitchell 400 high speed that I purchased in 1976, and wanted to move it back into operation. With the help of a great video, I took it apart, tracked down a few components (bail spring, bail screw, and carbontex drag washers. I enjoyed it and the reel is better than new.
That experience made want to attack a couple of other reels I have for pan fish. I have two Abu Cardinal 3's that barely function. My guess is that it is primarily cleaning and lubrication needed. As I have Googeled I have not been able to find any similar video. I found a post of photos with description of assembly. As a beginner, I really feel I could use more detail. Is anyone aware of a DIY video of breakdown, cleaning, lubricating, and reassembling the Cardinal 3? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and tight lines to everyone, Michael
Midway tommy is our Cardinal guru I will try to find one of his tutorials, the Cardinal 3 has 2 bail springs & I loosely zip tie the drag stack when I service mine to keep it in order, just easier for me.I have always installed a new bearing when I get one in an unknown condition, they can be cleaned but it's probably 50+ years old so
I replace them.
