While checking out a new creek trout fishing I found this California newt crossing the trail. Thought you guys might wanna see him

Looks closely related to the western newt.  It is hard to tell but it looks to be considerably larger than the western.

The creeks in the San Gabriel mountains are loaded with these. These newts will excrete toxins when stressed. They are safe for us to handle but if you have a dog with you, do not allow the dog to get mouthy with it.
