Long story longer...
Whenever I get a new reel I fish until I Christen it by catching a fish, call it goofy just me :fish
Well I got this BM1600 from tincanary(Rob) tried a jig midday no hits. I tied on a #12 salmon egg hook with a piece of green dyed red wiggler, fish love them for some reason & are cheapest worms at the bait store?
I see a school of shiners & dangle the bait,it looks like recess football or Rugby. One runs with the bait until he tuckers out or another shiner steals it. It is more entertaining than TV.
I also have tried size 26 & #10 hooks & have yet to catch a shiner. I never tried a Sabiki rig,any Suggestions?
I'm going cross-eyed just looking at those #26s. I guarantee if I tried tying one to my line I would end up with it stuck in my finger.
Try to catch some gold fish on slow day ?
These are small shiners ,I have caught the larger ones while bream fishing.
Yes Boon, with the #26 I have to use reading glasses & hemostats
to hold the hook while I thread it & pull the knot tight they are tiny using 2# line.
A size 22 would be easier to work with. Maybe a tiny bit of fur to make 'em look like food. If bait maybe a razor bladed piece of worm. Tie 2 lb. leader to each hook, then to sabiki leader at home under good light.
This reminded me I forgot to tell Jason, another site a guy said he uses chunks of Senko worms for bream/catfish fishing, maybe salt impregnated? I know Zoom worms have salt,I have put one in my mouf... I know that was ammo for Gregg ::)
I've definitely used slices of senkos before.
The salt is something that makes the soft plastic a bit heavier, which is useful for folks like me who fish them without a jighead. But it also makes them A LOT easier to rip.
People like them more. And go thru them faster. Of course the manufacturers wanna go that route.
