Title: Pro gear 251 and 545 Question
Post by: vmuth on May 07, 2026, 05:00:04 PM
Hi all, it's been a few years since i've been on the board.  I've always had a deep appreciation for the o g pro gears.  Loved them since i had my first one decades ago.  I even got a v42 when they had a revival for a hot minute.  Used it once just to say i used it and back in the cabinet it went.

I recently fished my 545 and fell in love again.  Did they ever make the 251 or 545 in red?  I've been on this kick for a few years of getting red or red accent reels just to be a little different.  Plus I can spot my gear on the rack right away.

As a matter a fact, did pro gear make any reels in annodized red?

Really looking forward to the replies and finding out.

Thanks.

Here's a red pro gear handle knob, I'm sure they made reels to match

Sheridan, that offset PG blade is rare as hens teeth

Yes, the red 545 is a rare bird. Mine is upgraded as far as I could possibly go. I have too many reels, so I've never had the chance to fish it, but certain it could handle a 100# tuna without breaking a sweat. The hangtag on the reel reminds me of the days gone by, when I had funds to do upgrades

They also made a few 545's in black.

Most PG reels are gunmetal, or silver, but occasionally they do pop up in other colors. Ive also seen a blue pg545, but the price was too rich for me

My 545 is gunmetal but I had a blue 501 at one point.
