Title: Shakespeare-built Ted Williams "Roman Numeral" series of spinners
Post by: CincyDavid on May 26, 2026, 12:15:19 PM
In the late 60s, Shakespeare built 3 spinning reels for Sears' Ted Williams brand. The III is a 2052, IV is a 2062 and VI, in two versions, is one of the big saltwater reels. VI's are readily available on ebay, I stumbled on a IV about a year ago, but have never seen a III on ebay. Last evening I stumbled on one on FB Marketplace and it should arrive within a week or so. In short, I'll have the whole set.

From what I can gather they later went to 3-digit numeric model names, the largest of which is the 930. I have one of those. What I don't have is the smaller 3-digit model(s), one of which is 470, not quite sure what the other model number might be, if it even exists. Anybody know what the other model number might be?

I just found a very clean 470 on ebay, it will arrive next week some time. I'll be curious to see if it's a 2052 or 2062.

The 470 is a the same as the 2062.
