Title: First Hot Rod Entrants
Post by: Alto Mare on April 22, 2012, 04:33:05 PM
Haven't seen anyone test the water yet so I thought I'd cast the first line. Enjoy! Join the party, I can't wait to see the rest.

Wow Sal! ... you hit us with a lot at one time.  I commend you on your taste and passion for "reel collecting"  ... top shelf stuff ya got there, bro! ... I would certainly like to see a 9/0 with a silver frame and red accuplates added to that collection  ;)
Keep it up pal,
Dom

Yo Broadway, lets get those Accukits out of the boxes and put them together, so we can all enjoy them. Life is too short ;).

Coming soon Brotha!  I got stripers to catch in the meanwhile  ;)
I'm fixing a leak caused by crappy winterization (boat yard- next year I'm doing it myself) in the raw water line which could have sank my boat had I not seen it.  It would have taken a while to do, but sometimes I can't get down to the boat for a week or so.  I got the push to fit fittings today, and will do the job so I can set sail next week... yeah baby!!!!

Wow Dom, good thing you caught that. When I come up I'm going to check that boat for myself, before we head out 80 miles or so  ;D.
Good luck with those strippers, I mean stripers. I heard their clock got knocked off this year, two months ago we hit 88 degreese, today high was 55 degreese :-\. Later bro.

A once over by you would be good for me, but probably cost me an arm and a leg for performing the recommended mods "Broadway"   ;D  ... I could actually use a fresh set of eyes and some good ideas.
The stripers don't know what to do, but I have an idea where to get them ;)
I can't wait to have ya out!

Guys, I'm glad that you like my reels, but I'm not too crazy about this conversation. I wasn't planning on going anywhere anytime soon.

Once again, Sal is king of the castle. Maybe Alan could start a new section just for Sal, that way I could always direct my wife to Sals page when she thinks I'm hoarding too many reels and say "see honey", this guy is a hoarder, I'm more of just an average guy.

HAHAHA

Alto Mare, thank you for posting these photos. These reels are, without a doubt beautiful. Classic Penns are my favorites by far. Here, in So. Cal., I like to fish a Penn 146 inshore during late spring & summertime. Your full Accurate 146 lists 4:1 gears. Is there/ was there a gear change kit to do this?? I'd be very interested in trying to do a ratio change to one of my reels. Thanks again for the wonderful photos..

Doraboden sorry, the gears on the 146 are 3.3 to1. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I also made a bobo on the 113h, the gears there are 3.25 to 1. The rest of the reels are good. I shouldn't have listed so many at one time. The 4:1 ratio and 5:1 ratio are in my jigmasters with the full accurate conversion. I didn't show those, I needed to hold back a bit ;). That 146 is one of my favorite, you don't see many today with etching on the plates and easy adjustable left bearing. I'm glad you like them. Sal
