Title: bearing removal
Post by: shootera3 on April 22, 2012, 08:18:11 PM
Alan, I have a Newell 229-5 reel. I took it apart to clean and the clicker side bearing would not come off the spool shaft, I soaked it in various corrosion cleaners but no luck. Any ideas.

if the bearing is shot, crack the outside race with channel locks or vise grips (wear glasses), then you can grab the inside race and wrench it off.

Thank you Allen, your advice worked fine. I will order new bearing from Dawn tomorrow. Thanks again. Steve.
