Title: 700 Bearing Cover
Post by: jgp12000 on July 14, 2026, 05:35:55 PM
I noticed the bearing cover on my 700
Has what I thought was a dent until I saw another on ebay in the same location? It appears to be located over the bail trip screw hole is ?I assume it's made this way?

Thanks Joe I figured it was meant to be,its pretty thick SS probably
Hard to dent anyhow.

It appears all the holes are same diameter
I assume the trip screw with the larger head goes in the hole near the indention  & would be oriented  at the top or foot side.

Sometimes when the design engineers screw up factory staff have to make adjustments.  ;)  ;D

It is the trip "ramp" for the internal bail release.

Since (3) screws hold this very HD SS round plate in place —- the ramp can be rotated to the angler's desired position for setting/cocking the bail open.

12 to 6, or 6 to 12 —- your call.

Best, Fred
