Title: Okuma Spool ID
Post by: Keta on July 14, 2026, 10:40:28 PM
What reels do these spools fit?  I would like to sell them on e-Bay but if anyone here can use them I will part with them for the cost to ship.

Found a 2005 description from Stripers On Line for the reel; Okuma VS 45. Owners seemed to like it. One guy said it had 16 ball bearings——-hard to believe.

I got a vs33 in a bundle of other reels. Feels like a decent reel but I saw the "16 bearings" and wondered if I really wanted to mess with it

Old Okuma V system reels. A little heavy, but very good reels. Nice and smooth too.

Yeah Okuma V-system. Fairly stout but they came from the kinda transitional period where Okuma went from making crappy cheap reels to rather good ones.

Alan Hawk reviewed them,... I think it's the same model. His was, of course a big 'ol 80 size. Only one thing I saw that I really didn't like; them felt washers in the drag. He did count 15 ball bearings. I skimmed the review; 3 in the knob, 3 in the spool 2 on the pinion surrounding the ARB, 2 in the line roller, 1-on the bail arm?, rest must be in the funny oval shaped gear/oscillation system and the crank shaft.
