Post by: Midway Tommy on August 03, 2026, 04:07:17 AM
My Grandson took a trip this weekend to Hawaii with a group of friends. He and a few of guys went out fishing and he ended up catching this dandy today!  :al First saltwater catch of his life. He said it took him over an hour to land it.  :o

Great way to start, how do you top that catch! I bet during the battle he couldn't wait to tell Granddad. I assume it wasn't caught on a Cardinal though ;D

Wow, memories for life right there.

Tommy, I'm betting you're a very proud grand pappy !!

On a side note: looking at the size of that fish, and the tiny back deck of that boat, I'm guessing they tied a rope to the marlin and towed it back into port

Out of six guys he's the only one that ended up catching a fish. I hope it doesn't tilt his expectations to thinking that something like that's gonna happen every time he goes out on big water. He knows better (from experience) when he's on the local inland waters.  :)

Great fish BUT it's like buying your 25 year old wife her first Mercedes...you've set the bar really high, how is he gonna top that?
