I wanted to service mine, has never been done. I ran into trouble when I was trying to get the main gear out. I forgot about that hexagon piece of wire that must be removed. I was pulling up on that gear thinking that it was just very tight,,wondering if I damaged that wire or something possibly,,because once I put the side cover on and tighten the screws the reel almost locked up. I loosen it up,and it feels very good, quite smooth..I believe I had this happen on another Daiwa years ago..never figured out what the issue was. Anyway if anyone has any thoughts,,please let me know.
Which side of the main gear did you put the washer (key 59) on?
Did you take any of the bearings apart?

I did not open any bearings,,just dropped some TSI321 in.
I could not remove main gear so,,any washers went right back were they were.
bearing cover did come off while I was trying to get that hex wire off though. Never removed it,couldnt get the wire off.

You might need a couple of long thin needles, but the hex clip usually comes up the shaft with expletives and perseverance. A bent wire to hook under it helps too. They are a pain when corrosion locks the bearing onto the shaft because the osc. drive gear often fouls the spool shaft and locks the gear in. Tried a light tap on the the LHS of the main gear to see if it's been partially displaced?

Yeah I have a feeling that I may have displaced that hex wire when was pulling up on that gear thinking it was stuck until I remembered about the hex wire.. I will have to make myself nuts until I can get that hex off and see whats doing
