Title: Aluminum frame and side plate for Penn 10/0 14/0
Post by: RSIA-01 on August 08, 2026, 04:33:07 PM
Why no one made any Penn 10/0 12/0 14/0 16/0 one piece aluminum frame and side plate except Penn 20/0 conversion.

Please advice me how to order some.
If they made aluminum lightweight narrow spool and one piece frame for Penn 14/0 and 10/0 it will be great reel for standup fishing because of it lighter weight than any same size leverdrag reel.

Thanks

I think the biggest frame you'll find is for a 9/0. Probably not much demand on the bigger senators when there's large lever drags that offer better performance id settle for an aluminum spool for a 10/0

Cost and no demand.

The way lines have evolved, there is no need for those larger senators.  How many miles of line are you willing to retrieve?

Or pay for expensive "backing".

They'll have some work to do, a Talica 50 is just over half the weight of a 10/0, is a 2 speed, and is a lever drag.

Hence there's no demand.

I don't disagree with one bit of your logic. Everything you say makes sense. But if an aluminum spool existed for a 10/0 I'd buy it for my 10/0.

Sure. Hot-rodding reels is a wonderful thing and all the aftermarket parts are very cool, and support a great hobby.

But just like nobody is showing up to contest Le Mans with a 1960s Mustang, no matter how hotted up, no serious game angler is using a Senator nowadays. It doesn't make the Mustang any less cool, and it's a lot more interesting to someone who appreciates these things than a high performance "off the shelf" car. But a fresh-out-the-box Talica/Makaira/International is going to mop the floor with even the spiciest Senator in fishing performance.
