Title: Shimano Triton TSMIIIFS with Fighting star
Post by: hixsta on April 26, 2012, 06:26:58 AM
Hi,
I have just bought one of these is great condition and I am hoping it will be similar to the Speedmaster III. I own a Speedmaster IV and love it and was wanting a III model as it's not as wide.
Can anyone give me some information on the  TSMIIIFS and it's differences to the straight Speedmaster III?
Much appreciated

Hi.

I'm no reel expert, but I've seen both those reels you have mentioned. I own the 15/30 which is similar to the Speedmaster TSM3 in size.

The Speedmaster TSM3FS has the extra add on of the FS. This add on helps with the setting of the star drag.

The TSM3FS that I've seen has a higher retrieval speed than the 15/30.

Would like to get my hands on one of those older models.

compare schematics carefully.  you should be able to covert it with a shorter drive shaft and some other parts.

Is upgrading drag similar to the Speedmaster III/IV tutorial you have here?

is it the same size as a Speedmaster III?
