Title: Quick Questions = Gear Set for CT 400..
Post by: Nessie Hunter on May 23, 2012, 08:47:37 PM
Have a reg customer who has 2 Calcutta 400's...
1 - CT 400 (no letter)
1 - CT 400 B

The first one has noticeably lower gear ratio.
Google says its a 4.7:1
Now the CT400B also says 4.7:1 and also 5.1:1...

How do I know what the gears are??
How/where do I get a set of the lower gears for the 400B

How can I make sure they are right Ratio..
Talked to Matt at Simano and he was telling me they are both 5.1:1?????

Hate to spend his $$ and get the wrong ratio.....
Saw a set on Ebay for $20 + shipping, but no Gear ratio was noted...

He is throwing Swimbaits & wont even use the 400B anymore due to its faster speed & wants to change them....

Thanks in Advance.....

Hi Nessie  If my math serves me right count the teeth on the main gear and then the teeth on pinion gear. Divide the pinion gear into the main gear.  Say 28 on main and 7 on pinion = 4/1  See my post on the 555 I was having trouble with got it fixed finally

I was going to ask him to Count Spool turns to handle turns..  ????

not sure he can take the reel apart to count teeth??

I dont have the reels right now, but have serviced and upgraded them both..
Trying to save a $$.... Shipping both ways before I know I can even get the right parts doesnt seem practical...

But I am not getting any solid info from the people that are supposed to be in the know on it.
Just hate not having the info I need to decide what I need....
