Title: Baking Powder Biscuits
Post by: Bill B on August 09, 2012, 01:44:37 AM
One of my favorite quick breads...also known as scones to those on the wrong side of the pond ;D...

Baking Powder Biscuits

2 cups flour
2.5 tablespoons baking powder
5 tablespoons sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter
2 eggs
½ cup milk
½ cup raisins, trail mix, Chopped pecans or other nuts, or whatever looks good (need to try breakfast sausage or bacon)

1.   Mix all dry ingredients, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt
2.   Cut butter into dry ingredients until a coarse meal is made (a pastry knife works real well)
3.   Mix eggs and milk
4.   Combine all until moistened, adding raisins.  Top with chopped nuts
5.   Spoon into six mounds on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes (the wife likes them WELL browned)

redsetta...tried the bacon, onion and cheese this weekend....was real good especially after adding some sausage gravy ;D...no the gravy was from a powdered mix..but was still great...thanks for the new version....then after baking these I heard there maybe a bacon shortage coming!!!!!! Time to dump all that gold and re-invest in pork bellies ;D...or maybe just invest that bacon into my belly :P

Shortage of pork I don't think we will have to worry about that in Texas, had 4 in the trap today so my freezer got pork.
