Title: Penn 113 Black sideplate vs. 112
Post by: chris73 on August 24, 2009, 06:42:47 PM
Picked up 1 each of these at a Flea Market over the weekend.  Are these basically the same internally or is the 4/0 stronger?

Thanks!

they are very different internally but the performance is about the same.  both benefit greatly from a stainless steel gear sleeve.  alan

Thanks for the reply Alan!

The reason I was confused, is that the part # for the drag washers seemed the same on Penn Parts for both reels and I assumed the gears were identical without opening up them up.

I'm definately no expert on reel repair, but I'm trying to build this into a new hobby.

Thanks again for the GREAT site!

oops. i was thinking of a red side plate 112H versus a black side plate 113.  sorry, the black side plate 112 and the black side plate 113 are very similar.  alan
