Title: Ever Used These Guys?
Post by: lawaia on September 19, 2012, 03:57:25 AM
Aloha Guys,

Was surfing the internet a couple of days ago and came across this site (http://www.murahbagusshop.com/en/).  They offer some unreal prices for name brand tackle!  Seems too good to be true and I couldn't find anything pertinent about them on the internet, so am just asking the many of you experienced tackle experts here if you've ever dealt with them or know anything about them, good or bad.

Mahalo for any info,
lawaia

Be careful of these dealers overseas, 2 years ago I looked at a reel on flea bay and the store was in Southeast Asia, I looked and that was it, 2 days later I received a call from my Bank in FL that my checking account was cleaned out by Pay Pal to pay my bill, I was lucky the head of Security at the Bank was a great guy and he made a conference call between Flea bay,Pay Pal, my self and he and here were the Questions that Pay Pal asked me did I subscribe to a lifetime subscription to a magazine that cost $50.00 per month?, did I wire money to Russia?, do I know any one at a Bank in Saudi Arabia?, do I know a company in Singapore. The money went from FL-Russia-SA-Singapore, It took one month and a quite a few questions I had to answer over and over as if I pulled off the scam.
30 days later I had the money put back in my account. But I sweated pretty good for a while.

when i went to indonesia a while back and met up with marko i went to a couple of legal tackle shops.their prices were dearer than usa and australia.rods and reels are expensive.i did manage to get a couple of dealers thrown off alibaba and ebay.very similar to what you are seeing here.they advertised a  shop online, not there's, and the owners had never heard of the thieves.

Mahalo to you all and especially to MarkoThis site is the best!

I asked the same question on other sites (probably why Panama felt deja vu) and never got as definitive a reply as from Marko.  Some responders immediately jumped to the same conclusion as Nessie Hunter and flamed me for asking an honest question that I thought would benefit everyone either by revealing a great bargain site or a fake/scam site.  Now, thanks to Marko, at least the members of this great site are safe from falling into the trap that he's told us the Murah Bagus site is.  Looks like Murah Bagus must be Indonesian for "more bogus".

Again, mahalo nui loa for your replies and for treating a fellow forum member, who's a frequent reader but seldom posts, fairly and with open and understanding minds.  Bryan, thanks for sticking up for a fellow kanaka (or should I say pah-ke?  ;)).

Howzit Lawaia,

Eh Brah, you Pah-ke too?  Same hea.... ;)

Thanks for the heads-up topic. The great thing about this site is we all stand up for each other like you did for all of us on this topic...again Mahalo bruddah.  :)

Nessie Hunter pointed out "possible spammer" because his intention, like yours, was to shield us fellow members from possibly tapping in and getting all flooded with spam....Thank you Nessie Hunter.  Please understand, I guess by seeing the amount of posting under your screen name as one (1), lots of others probably thought the same.  :-\

For Brian and I, it was a little easier to recognize "not spammer" because us bruddahs come from Hawaii and we recognize some of the pidgin  :D

I'm sure you know, unlike the other "flammers" on the other sites, Nessie Hunter meant well as he always does with all the valuable information that he shares with us all.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped to uncover this retail online scamming site.  I just could not imagine putting in an order, giving a credit card number, and then seeing all of this...what a headache!

Aloha,

Frank  :)

if the murah bagus shop is legit, they wouldnt even know the thieves are using their shop as a front.thats what the scammers do.they use a photo of the shop with a false phone #; or they are in on it.SHOP LOCALLY.

we are all looking out for each other.  everytime you turn around, another reel "company" is popping up.  even my garage has turned into something of a mail order house.  i'm sending out a hundred orders a month. i've always insisted on having the purchaser wait until the parts or reels arrive first.  at first, there were only a couple of guys that "lost" things.  with the number of packages going up, the number of guys forgetting to send checks as gone up.  i'm going to stick with this for a while, though.  i hate paypal.

Nessie is a straight shooter in my book and a good example of what makes this site great 8)
Thanks to Marko we have a confirmed answer that these guys are full of it and are big time scammers.
Alan's policy on mailing out parts and performing services on the "honor code" is one of the most beautiful things I've seen.
I hope people start squaring up with you because your trust in man is inspirational.
We're one big, happy family here, and I'm honored to be a part of it... thanks to all of you who look out for each other like big bruddahs! (you guys must be rubbing off on me;)
Thanks

Howzit again, guys.  Just want to once more say mahalo for the open-minded and fair discussion.  That's what makes this site the best!

I'm an old fut (pidgin for the phonetically identical passing of greenhouse gas  ;)) so, like Alan, I'm old school and believe in giving newbies a chance to prove themselves one way or another, trusting in my fellow man.  After all, we were all newbies at some point and all of us had to make a first post, yeah?  And, being from Hawaii, where we also live the Aloha spirit, I've also got tolerance for those who aren't old school so, to me, ain't no big t'ing what Nessie did.  Those from the 808, like Franky and Bryan, know that.

I dunno as much as many here about working on reels and stuff, just the minimum maintenance to keepum working, so thass why I'm mostly lurking and not posting.  Have been lucky fishing sometimes but didn't wanna seem a braggart so haven't posted about that but maybe will do a little, to raise the post count?  Hahaha, local upbringing...better to say nothing and perhaps be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt?

Malie kai a me aloha nui,
lawaia

BTW, Nessie get plenty Aolha spirit. He get plenty friends from Hawaii. PLENTY!!!  And as the saying goes, if you are Ohana with 1 local, you are hanai'd with everyone else.

Aloha.  Glad we have all each other from around the world.

as You have hundreds of shipping every months- I think it's time to change Your Policy. no shipping until full amount of money received! it would be safer for You!

I agree with Marko I had to go to money before you get anything back cause alot of people started the non-payment thing or the 3 or 4 months to get the money, hated to do it but I had to pay the bills.I really appreciate posts like this one because it saves not only me money but anyone who asks me if these are reel deals.I usually go with if it sounds too good to be true then it is.

As long as it's not unduly affecting your 'fiscal outlook', it certainly helps sort the wheat from the chaff...
Thanks Alan - it's all much appreciated.
