Title: Penn 66 spools
Post by: john2244 on September 26, 2012, 05:08:59 PM
The pictures are of Penn 66 spools.  I am guessing  both are considered to be 3 piece spools.  Does anyone know which spool with hold up better when used with mono line ??  My plan is to 3/4 fill the spool with 60# braid and then 40# mono.  Thanks for your help.
John

G'day John,
It's a nice looking set-up.
In my experience, the spool that's currently fitted is the weaker of the two.
Good luck, Justin

X2! John, the spool at the bottom is a stainless steel spool.

John, that's a sharp looking reel you've got there.  What make is the frame?  The "KCR" initials throw me off.

George,

It is a Tiburon frame.  Tiburon made some frames for a tackle shop in Oceanside, CA, Ken's Custom Reel "KCR"

I think I  am really going to like this reel.  If I can find another narrow topless frame I am going to set up another 113.  I have two of the SS spools and ordered the drags and SS sleeves for 2 reels.  I have another reel I just need to find a deal on another frame.

Thanks again for the idea,

John
