Title: penn drag washers

i just ordered a new drag for my penn delmar from a penn dealer. it is a 3 drag system i think. how do i upgrade it to a 5 drag system?

Can't be done, there isn't room for a 1+5 drag.

ok. what about ht-100 washers or carbontex washers/

Because the carbontex won't give enough room for a 5+1, I'd recommend the HT-100s. They are cheaper and more readily available and deliver the same performance.

for a 5 drag washer system or for a 3 washer system?

There is only enough room for a 1+3 with either brand of drag washer.

smoothdrag has a drag washer that goes underneath the main gear.  the weave of penn's ht-100 material is too loose and it gets mashed too easily.  the penn drags with cal's grease will work fine inside the main gear, but the drag washer underneath really should be a carbontex drag.  dawn can help you with this one.
