Title: Go too far?
Post by: Ron Jones on October 24, 2012, 03:49:44 AM
So, something that Santa in a Bryan suit brought that I couldn't use was little HT-100 washers for under the sleeve of 113s. As it happened, I have a few little Quantum XR-1 spinners and it seemed they were the rite size. Low and behold they fit. So now one of them has 3 greased HT-100 drags. It is spooled with 6lb mono, which means I could spool it with 20 pound braid easy. It has 2 little BBs that I oiled and I did a simple lube on it, I believe the gears and shaft are stainless. The reel has a long stroke spool and is solid aluminum.

So, my  question is, can I blow this thing up? I have caught really strong fish on 20 pound line. I don't think the braid will fail, nor the drags or stainless gears. I've seen a Senator side plates explode from a bucket mouth bass, but how does a spinner fail?
