Anyone familiar with this reel. Does the handle look original?

The handle looks original. The 249 is the "knuckle buster" version in the narrow spool 49 series. It had no anti-reverse and no drag. It lasted only a few years and is quite collectable, but I wouldn't want to fish one...

Made prior to 1941, still working and parts available, says a lot for Penns. ;)
Have a friend interested in it for his collection.
You will probably need at least 2 dogs and a cat. ;D ;D
