Title: Accurate 2 speed reassembly - Gear Shift Cover
Post by: ram on November 03, 2009, 01:16:55 PM
is there a trick to reattaching the Gear Shift Cover (#103) on an Accurate 2 Speed.  i have fought with this thing for a while and must be missing something.  i can get the cover on with the spring and gear shift in place but once i seat it on the Handle Washer (#93) i can only line up one screw hole.  thanks for your help.

Posting in case someone else has the problem.

I looked at the Gear Shift Cover closely on the underside and noticed there were slight carve outs to the inside of the screw holes on the cover.  I then figured out that the hexagonal nut (Gear Shift Handle Screw #99) that holds the handle in place needs to have the "points" aligned with the screw holes in order for the Gear Shift Cover to seat properly on the reel handle.  And, as it turned out, the nut was just 1/8 of a turn loose, tightened slightly, aligned the points with the screw holes and the Gear Shift Cover assembly seated immediately.

align the nut like this in relation to the screw holes:    o  < NUT >  o

kamuwela, aloha to you too, and thanks for replying.
