Title: difference between sealine ranges
Post by: pullrachet on December 10, 2012, 11:23:48 PM
whats the difference between the 40/50h (hsd?) range and the 300/350/400/450h etc. range?  both are black and silver...gear ratios are different, but what else?  which is more desireable?

The HSD reels where a totally different design with 5+1 drag stacks with very thin washers versus 3+1and thick washers in the H series. The H series had metal frames and end plates, as did the the HSD. The gear sleeve on the HSD is attached to the frame, the gear sleeve on the H series is attached to a bridge and the bridge is screwed to the sideplate. The HSD isn't made anymore, the H series is still made

they are all a little bit different.  the most recent models all have greased carbon fiber drag washers.  sneaky, those guys at daiwa!  they didn't tell anyone about that change.

Also the 350/450 are wide-spool versions of the 300/400. All good, basic reels.
