Title: Pflueger Contender drag settings.
Post by: Stuck on December 11, 2012, 09:23:07 AM
I have a Pflueger Contender G15L which is spooled with 20lb braid. The problem I'm having is that when I've got the drag set at 6lbs at strike, the minimum drag setting is very heavy. If I back the preset off to say 4.5 to 5lbs it makes a world of difference to the lower drag settings. Is there any to increase the drag at strike while still maintaing a "lightish" drag just off of free spool ?.

Thanks,
Anthony.

I'm not sure. I'ved noticed that on my Contenders as well. I need to take one apart again to make a recommendation. It's been a while since I took one apart.

first, make sure you do not have spectra that is slipping on the spool.  after that, it's a matter of filing down the cam to get the desired amount of "ramp."  it's not an easy process, and you get one shot to get it right.   :-\
