Title: old versus new jigmasters
Post by: uchikoo on November 10, 2009, 12:45:26 AM
Alan -

I am so glad to have found you and this site!

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it - Years ago I fell in love with some of the old school things about fishing which led be to loving old Penn 145's, 99's, 500's, 505's which led me to liking the idea of rebuilding this old school reels with new age parts which led me to Accuplates and Accuframes.  Ran out of time about five years ago after buying Accu this and that and now wanting to rebuild this reels I find that Accurate no longer sells these part and there is no well source of information of doing this.

I have found some specific parts don't match well with the reels.  Question:  does it matter whether the reel I am rebuiliding, say Penn 500, is a very old version or a newer version?

Thanks,

Vic

funny, the chinese jigmasters actually have stainless steel yokes and eccentric jacks.  all other things being equal, that makes them better reels.   :-\
