I have drag stars drawn up for 4/0, 6/0 and 16/0 Senators but I'm reluctant to invest in the tooling to tap the holes. Is there enough interest in 6 point larger diameter than factory SS stars for me to invest $20.00 each for the special taps so I can at least pay for the tooling? I want these to be used and profit isn't that much of a concern, loss is. I also have stock diameter 5 point stars drawn up.
I'd be interested in a couple.
I'll send a cashiers check this week!
Ron
I'd be interested in 4/0 drag stars. They are getting a little overpriced from Penn.
I could sell 3 at their price and pay for materials, time and tooling.
Ron, I prefer to be paid after you get the parts, that way if I forget people aren't upset.
What size taps do you need - I can dig through the garage and see if I have anything you could use hiding out there.
Lee,
I will buy a few of the 4/0 and 6/0 stars. When they are ready I will place and order.
John
I would like a 4/0 and a 6/0.
Mike.
It looks like taps for 4/0 and 6/0 will be ordered as soon as I replace the $ from the 15-200, 15-309 and 15-500 dogs I should have soon, they are waiting to be cut.
I forgot to mention i'll take 2 for the 4/0. Will it be for 113h or 113?
Lee,
I'd be up for 3 at least of the 4/0s, and a couple of 6/0s. A SS drag star sounds great!. I'd finally get around to ordering a pile of ss dogs as well at the same time. Seemed a little crazy getting 6 dogs sent to NZ... now there's a real reason!
And price 'em as you need to. Quality costs.
Simon.
Lee i want 2 for the 4/0 113H and don't forget the SS dogs. thanks!
The measurements are odd and my machinist friend is looking at the sleeves today. My eyes are not so good anymore and it's hard to read a thread gage and we came up with thread pitches that we don't believe, machinist is 10 years younger with better eyes.
slgriffiths, up to 6 dogs can be mailed in a envelope and for not much$
Mel, Hopefully I'll be cleaning and polishing them today.
IIRC some of them used a buttress thread. Not the kind of tap one is likely to have lying around.
Maybe they've changed to vee thread form nowadays; idunno.
.
It's "V" thread but it looks like a metric pitch on an inch shaft, I've run into this in the past. I have some NS taps up to 1" but they are all inch/inch not metric/inch.
Lee,
I've been waiting for a Penn star drag in the aftermarket... the Pro gears are nicely detailed and colorful but aluminum isn't the right material. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with, but you can count me in for at least 4 for the 4/0, 4 for the 6/0, and if you make them for the 3/0 I'll take 4 more. The numbers I just gave are for starters ;)
Thanks for bringing even more to the table!
Thanks,
Dom
Depending on cost I'd be in for between 2 to 4.
Lee,
If you need start up money let us know, I've been using 113 stars on smaller reels as an upgrade and am desperate for nicer stars for the bigger reels. Come to think of it, a big star for the 60 sleeve would be great on a grouper special.
Ron
If I forget who sent money I'd look like more of a flake than I already do, CRS is not fun to deal with. I'll start with the 113H, then 114H, and on up the Senator series. The 113 takes the same size thread as the 500, it will be in line too.
I'll take 6: 2 for the 500 with fine thread Alan Tani Sleeve, 2 for the 113h with fine thread Alan Tani sleeve, and 2 for the 114h with fine thread Alan Tani sleeve, let me know if you are going to make these for sure...Dan
Alrightee Lee,
I'll order one each 113H and 114H.
I'd take a 113H and a 114H version.
Hi Keta
I will take 2 113H & 2 114H let me know the price and I will Pay Pal the money to you or I can have my Son send you a check from Los Angeles.
Regards
Joel
Hi Lee,
How did you get on with the SS drag stars?
Would still love to get a couple.
Simon
The taps are hard to find, I'll try to get back on it soon.
Hi Lee, when you get the SS stars up and running i would like 3 for the 500, 1 for the113H and 1for the 114H. Letme know cost when your ready.
Thanks
Bob
Hi Lee,
Do you have an idea of the size? I wouldn't mind if the stars were larger.
Lee I will take 3 for the 113H and 1 for the 114H

Hi Lee,

I have to figure out where my note pad is to get the diameter and pitch, one was inch diameter with a metric pitch. I have larger diameter stars drawn up too and It's not that much work to make changes in the drawings.
I would like larger for all the ones I requested. If they become available.
Thanks,bob
Lee, If you have someone who can thread on a lathe. I have some water hardening steel i can send you to make a tap with. Bob
Lee
I would like one for the 113H and one for the 114H
Mike.
Lee,
PLEASE order ONE for me for a 114H, thank you. Wayne
