Title: Still with the Calcutta 250....
Post by: steelheadman on January 15, 2013, 04:50:50 PM
I've replaced the pinon gear, the yoke, the retraction spring and put a new bearing in place of the bushing on the spool shaft.....the reel still makes a ticking sound when I cast, but is silent on the retrieve....any ideas on what the issue is? Im at a loss since Ive replaced those parts...

you may need to add a spacer in the spool tensioning cap under the start on the right side plate.  That should push the spool over a little more to the left.

Check that the spool weight pins are all pushed in, as they can be touching ever so slightly on inside of the spool race. It may not be noticeable when you are reeling, but when the spool is at speed when casting, the centrifugal force would put extra force on the weights and pins.
