Title: 500S binding
Post by: spes on January 19, 2013, 02:45:24 AM
Back in October or so I broke down a 500s someone gave me.

I installed carbontex washers and a SS gear sleeve. The knob was broken so I ordered an arm and knob.

Back together it looks nice.

However,,it feels like it's binding when the spool shifts to towards the handle.  I have to back the left side bearing WAY out to stop the binding. This leaves quite a bit of side to side slop in the spool.... and if I tilt to the right the binding still happens ( a little ).
Does that sound like a bad right side bearing? Or did I mess up putting it back together?

Thanks,
Mike

Check the bearing is tight in the side plate, looks OK in the Pic. Drop a lead shot into the bearing and see if that helps.
