OK... tearing down an older model 30 VSW. Trying to remove the shift button retainer (Part #110). Using the penn tool in under the retainer but having an issue trying to unscrew it. With the reel end flat on the table (handle up), which way do I turn the retainer? Counter clockwise I assume but it's not budging either direction. Don't want to get silly with a set of vice grips!!! Sprayed a little break free earlier and going to let it sit. Any help? First time tearing down a 30VSW.

The tool should remain still. The ring needs to turn. I had to use pliers sometime to get it free, counter clockwise.
