Title: Fine tuning a Mitchell 300
Post by: JasonF on March 10, 2013, 08:26:49 PM
So I have a 1973 Mitchell 300 in perfect condition.  I did the tutorial and am confident in my re-assembly.  It is just not as smooth as it should be, though I know that these are rough.  From what I understand with proper shimming these can be smoothened out a bit.  Can someone recommend a real repair shop that is very competent with this reel and can optimize its performance?  Cheers! J

Those have been rough but reliable. I didn't know it could be smoother. If you find someone to make it smoother, please do share what was done.

Ha!
I grew up using Mitchel 300s and always thought they were as smooth as could be. Guess if it's your only reel you have nothing to compare it to.
