That looks like the same rigging we use for salmon.

I could have sworn that Wallace has some newer, pretty reels...but he always goes back to his tried and trues.

I think many of us are a bit like that ;) ;D
Great work Wallace - well done.
Looks like proper sportsfishing catching mahai-mahi on light tackle like that.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Justin

Yes I've seen them do that and end up hooked on a deep diving Yo Zuri plug-quite the job to unhook one!

when i was in nz i went on a charter boat
and a maori deliberately caught a mutton bird and
wrung its  neck. tied on a piece of fishing line
to bird and boat and threw it back over.
to keep the rest of them away.
when the first fish was caught it was
released alive to please the fish god.
go figure ???

caught a feed then moved on.
office workers turned up,in their big boats,
roaring up and down trolling, catching nil.
we got there at daylight and surprise!
divers with their spear guns were shooting plenty
its 200m deep with plenty of sharks.
went again last night, just local,10 minutes from jetty
snapper,tailor(bluefish)etc;perfect night.

ive read where people say they dont freeze
very well.
what a lot of rubbish!
i treat all fish the same.
donger,bleed,ice slurry,vacuum pack.
to thaw them out,
take them out of freezer a day earlier
and defrost in the fridge.
not on the kitchen bench.
cheers

Is this the same bluefish we get here in the north eastern US? If so they do only two things, eat and breed. Very common here. Almost toooooo many!!

Hi mike, which PB are you on? I fish only on PB. Not enough expendable cash to own my own boat. Everything from stripers to tuna to tiles. Not enough time to get to much into fluke or blues.

Maybe I'll have to make a trip this year to Sheepshead bay? I'll let you know and good Luck this striper season. It looks like a bit of a slow start. Water is still a touch cool.
